Joe Lopez, Lazaro Perez III, Monica Saldivar, and Los Chamacos took home multiple awards at the third annual Guadalupe Awards held at El Social Sports and Entertainment Bar in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, November 20, 2021.
Lopez and Perez took home three awards each. Lopez won Male Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Best Tejano Band of the Year with Grupo Mazz. Conjunto star Lazaro Perez earned Conjunto Artist of the Year, Accordionist of the Year, and Conjunto Album of the Year with De Los Beso Que De Ti.
Rising star and 2015 Tejano Idol winner Monica Saldivar took home Female Vocalist of the Year and New Female Artist of the Year. Legendary Conjunto group Los Chamacos won Conjunto Band of the Year and Conjunto Single of the Year for “Besos Y Copas,” while former member Roel Joslin earned Guitarist/Bajo Sexto Player of the Year. The other multiple winner was David Munoz, who achieved Journalist of the Year and Photographer of the Year.
The Guadalupe Awards also honored music legends with Lifetime Achievement Awards including late singer Jessy Serrata, Jesse Peralez, Mike Herrera, and Pio Trevino, who also earned Pioneer of the Year.
The Guadalupe Awards have recognized the best in Tejano and Conjunto each year since 2019 including outstanding performers, songs, productions, and more in 35 categories. The event was by created veteran Tejano events promoter Andrew Belmarez and is dedicated to the life and heritage of his late mother Guadalupe M. Belmarez, who passed away in 2015.
